With just 3 days before the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) new season kick-off on September 9, the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) has revealed plans to introduce Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the 2023-24 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
Daily Post reports that President of the NRA, Sanni Zubair, disclosed this during a chat with the media.
According to Zubair, the introduction of VAR would aid the performance of referees during games.
Zubair noted that NRA is operating jointly with the NPFL broadcast partner to accomplish the objective.
Zubair, a retired FIFA-badged referee, is confident of improved officiating in the upcoming 2023/24 season which kicks-off on Saturday, September 9, with Shooting Stars versus Plateau United tie at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
