Tobi Amusan claimed her third consecutive women’s 100 metres hurdles Diamond League title on Sunday, in Eugene, Oregon, US.

A stronger and better Tobi Amusan clinched the trophy after finishing in 12.33 seconds. Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quin came second in 12.38s, while Kendra Harrison of the US finished third, TheCable reports.
It will be recalled that Amusan won her first Diamond League trophy in 2021 in 12.42 seconds and defended the 2022 title in 12.29 seconds in Zurich.

The Nigerian’s 2023 season has been characterized with controversial issues.

Notably, ahead the 2023 World Athletics Championships, Amusan was provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unity (AIU) for allegedly “missing three tests in 12 months”.

The Nigerian star athlete’s participation in the world championship was in jeopardy until she was cleared of the charge three days before the competition.

It was disappointing, though wasn’t a surprise, considering all the emotional stress and associated challenges, that the 27-year-old could not defend her world title at the 2023 World Athletics Championships final after she finished sixth at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
