Retired Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi had trolled his former Chelsea teammates Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba for not inviting him to Cote d’Ivoire when they were playing together, Soccernet reports.
Mikel Obi recently shared a video documenting his trip to Cote d’Ivoire, where he showcased the country’s stunning scenery. In a playful manner, he humorously accused his former Chelsea teammates, Kalou and Didier, for not inviting him to their country, jokingly attributing it to their supposed stinginess.
Mikel Obi and Rainford Kalaba, both retired players, will be attending the 2023 AFCON draws. Mikel was part of the Nigerian team that clinched the AFCON title in 2013, while Kalaba played a significant role in Zambia’s victory in 2012.
Nigeria finds itself in pot two alongside strong teams like Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and DR Congo. It’s exciting to think about the possibility of Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia being in the same group. The draws will take place in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire.
