Wilder, on the other hand, lost his WBC heavyweight title to Tyson Fury and engaged in a memorable trilogy with Fury.
With Fury and Usyk holding all four belts, there is an opportunity to crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. Joshua mentioned to BBC Sport that they are considering staging the Usyk-Fury and Joshua-Wilder fights on the same night, potentially in April.
Fury’s upcoming fight is against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who is making his boxing debut in a non-title bout. Joshua doubts that Fury will have enough time to prepare for Usyk and fight in December after facing Ngannou in late October or early November.
The deal for the blockbuster fight has been finalized, but an exact date is unknown.
