With her most recent win, Coco Gauff became the owner of the largest winning streak on the WTA this year with 15 wins in a row.

Coco Gauff has been on a proper roll recently, winning basically every match she played. It’s a fascinating turnaround from Wimbledon, where she lost to Sofia Kenin at the event’s start. Many considered it the low point of her season, which wasn’t that great to begin with, but things turned around rather quickly, Tennis Infinity reports.

It all started in Cincinnati, where she won the trophy, and continued through the US Open run and now in Beijing at the China Open as well. The win over Veronika Kudermetova was the 15th consecutive win with which she became the player with the longest winning streak this year on the WTA Tour.

There were a few impressive ones, such as the one from Iga Swiatek earlier this year. The Polish player won 14 matches in a row, from Roland Garros to her Wimbledon quarter-final, but that was now bettered by Gauff, who is at 15.

It will likely continue as the American looks good enough to keep winning as she marches to yet another trophy. A few good players remain in the China Open draw, but nobody she will really fear. She’s beaten Swiatek and Sabalenka, so she can do it again.

Elena Rybakina is an interesting challenge but there is no reason to believe that she can’t win that match as well. If she does end up as the champion, Gauff will look strong to make it a 20+ match winning streak as she will play next week as well at the Zhengzhou Open.

Whether she can catch Swiatek and her 37-match winning streak remains to be seen but it seems unlikely. Still, this is a pretty remarkable achievement for the rising superstar.
