In a remarkable step towards improving the health of Edo people, the First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, accompanied by the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary HealthCare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr Omosigho Izedonmwen, on Friday, September 29th, 2023, embarked on an inspection visit to the proposed Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) construction site within the grounds of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Benin City.

The visit held a profound significance for the First Lady, as she herself is an Alumnus of the College, belonging to one of the first sets of students that walked its illustrious grounds.

The First Lady radiated joy as she stood on the construction site, looking forward to the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the College, which was founded on October 15th, 1973.

Her excellency, Mrs. Obaseki expressed her deep-rooted commitment to the welfare of the school and its community by stating that the establishment of the Primary Healthcare Facility is her way of giving back to her Alma Mater.

Mrs. Obaseki stressed the importance of ensuring comprehensive healthcare services are readily accessible to both staff and students of the college.

During this momentous visit, the Executive Secretary, EDSPHCDA, Dr Omosigho Izedonmwen outlined the Agency’s plans. He articulated that the Primary Healthcare staff would be strategically redeployed to manage the facility upon its completion.

Dr Omosigho further stated that the presence of trained Primary Healthcare Staff will ensure not only the delivery of preventive measures but also health education and prompt medical care as needed, enriching the health and well-being of both staff and students at the college.
