The 6th Edition of Edo Heritage Sports Festival and Carnival is scheduled to hold on 21st to 25th November 2023, at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub and Sound Stage in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The kick-off date was contained in an official statement signed by the CEO, Heritage and Sports Colony International Ltd, Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka-Afolabi, which was made available to The Nigerian Observer.

With the vision of making Edo State a hub of exciting Socio-Cultural activities in Africa, Edo Heritage Sports Festival and Carnival is a unique carnival experience as it brings to light the strength and beauty of the Edo people.

This year’s edition of the Sports Festival and Carnival, is expected to draw over 5,000 participants and spectators from all walk of life and a large retinue of traditional Chiefs and Enigies.

According to the statement, “This event has a large reach. The participants and guests drawn from all works of life and there will be a large attendance of Enigies and other Community leaders.

“As an improvement to the 2022 edition, we have decided to increase the number of beneficiaries of the free skills acquisition project (SkillUp) Edo to 750 beneficiaries.”

The Statement added, “The Components for this year’s edition are: Cultural Carnival; Cultural Market; Cultural Dance Competition; Chess Tournament; Oguirise (Ayo) Competition; Draught Competition; Traditional Wrestling Competition; Karate Competition; Football Competition; SkillUp Edo (a free skill acquisition program); Spelling Bee; Paraclete Awards and Miss Paraclete Int’l pageant.”
