The office of Edo State Coordinator, National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), as part of a defined reward system for staff, celebrated her staff for their valuable contributions towards recorded various achievements and developmental strides at NHIA, Edo State office.

The award ceremony which took place on Monday, at the NHIA office in Benin City, had in attendance the Edo State Coordinator, NHIA, Amb. Theodore Ehannire, and two managerial staff from NHIA, Headquarters, Abuja, namely, Hannatu Ikharia of informal Sector Development (ISD) and Maimuna from Human Resources.

The awardees include:

1. MLS Onankhinon Osadebamwen Efe – Best staff of the year 2022 (Senior Staff Category),
2. Mr Uyi Iyinbor – Best staff of the year 2022 (Supporting Staff Category).
3. A new innovation in the award series went to Miss Rekiya Yahaya as the Best staff during the Customers week 2023.

In another forum, the NHIA, Edo State Coordinator, had reiterated the words of the former Director General, Prof. M.N Sambo, “We will continue to work until NHIA becomes the pride of all Nigerians.”

Notably, NHIA’s core mandate is directed at providing accessible, affordable and qualitative healthcare for all Nigerians through a public private partnership (PPP) to achieve the Universal Health Coverage.

Ehannire further noted that a lot has changed within the authorithy since the new NHIA was signed into law, leading to more strategic programs that have increased participation, especially in Edo State and the Country at large.

“Although not all our programmes have been implemented, the change of name has made the agency stronger to protect the enrollees and to sanction erring stakeholders in the health insurance ecosystem.

“We now have a new operational guideline that will be unveiled soon and new Memoranda of Understanding, (MoU) has been signed with pharmaceuticals and drug manufacturers to make our operations better with the enrollees in mind,” he said.
