In a move to bolster the development of technical talents within the state, the Edo State Government has launched the Technical Talent Development Programme (TTDP) workshop. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive policy and action plan for the implementation of technical talent development with the ultimate goal of positioning the state as the technical hub in Nigeria and Africa by the year 2027.

The three-day workshop which was held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), Benin City, drew resource persons from critical Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including education, Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET), EdoJobs, Communication and Orientation, amongst others.

The Ag. Executive Secretary of Edo State BTVET and Team Lead for TTDP, Dr. Terseer Nyulaku, stated that the State Government is committed to transforming the State into a thriving technical hub. The transformation, as outlined by Dr. Nyulaku, is hinged on robust collaborations among various MDAs, especially those deeply involved in the technical talent sector.

“The overarching objective of the endeavour is to equip resident youths in the State with the skills required to meet the demands for technical talents for local and international markets, justifying the necessity for the policy development and its potential to shape the direction of talent development in the state,” Dr. Nyulaku said.
