In response to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international NGO headquartered in South Korea and affiliated with the UN Economic and Social Council and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, has released a statement calling for an end to the conflict.

In the statement, HWPL expressed deep concern over the thousands of deaths and the potential escalation of the conflict into an international crisis.

HWPL emphasized the impact on innocent civilians, stating, “It is the innocent civilians who become the victims in wars, and everyone in the world is witnessing this situation in real-time. Failing to stop an unjustified war will result in thousands and tens of thousands of civilian casualties. Can anyone compensate for such devastating atrocities?”

HWPL called for an immediate cessation of acts of aggression by both parties involved in the conflict and urged them to protect their citizens while actively engaging in efforts to ensure recovery and peace.

HWPL also called on the United Nations and the international community to swiftly mediate peace talks between the two parties and provide humanitarian support.

Recalled that HWPL, together with international law experts from 15 countries, drafted and announced the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)” in March 2016. This declaration proposes international cooperation, citizen participation, and cultural approaches to conflict prevention, mediation, and peace, which it plans to submit the DPCW to the United Nations.

HWPL is actively engaged in peace activities in more than 170 countries, working to establish an institutional approach to peace within the international community and raise awareness about the importance of peace.
