… as Yusuf Alli congratulates player

The chairman, Edo state Sports Commission, Olympian Yusuf Alli, management and players of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin have congratulated their first choice Goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, on his call-up to Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The national team manager, Jose Peseiro handed a late call-up to the 23 year-old Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, to replace Maduka Okoye who will be unavailable for November 16 and 19, 2023 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe respectively.

The Edo Sports Commission Boss said: “The invitation to our goalkeeper to the Super Eagles is a cheering news and a pleasant surprise. It is reward and national recognition for his hard work.

“Congratulations to Amas Obasogie, Bendel Insurance FC and the Nigeria Premier Football League. As a matter of fact, Amas Obasogie’s call-up to the national team is a package of motivation not only for himself and other players in the domestic league but also serves as encouragement for Bendel Insurance management and the proprietor, Edo State Government, who is the Chief Sponsor of the Club.

Bendel Insurance FC confirmed the receipt of Amas Obasogie’s call-up letter from the NFF upon their return from Kaduna on Monday evening after their NPFL match day eight with Niger Tornadoes, which ended in 0-0 draw
on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Bendel Insurance FC shot stopper has joined other players in the Super Eagles camp and trained with the national team in Uyo on Tuesday evening.

Amas Obasogie has been consistent in his impressive performance since last season, extending the sterling performance to the current NPFL season where he has kept six clean sheet in the seven matches Insurance have played so far.

Nigeria will play Lesotho on the 16th of November before travelling to Zimbabwe for their second group game on Sunday 19th.
