The 2023 Alaghodaro Summit kicks off, Wednesday November 8, 2023, in Benin City, the Edo State capital, with the Edo Women’s Conference.

The Summit is organised yearly by the Edo State Government, in partnership with the private sector, to mark the anniversary of Governor Godwin Obaseki in office and showcase the progress being recorded in transforming the state into an investment haven.

This year’s event is the seventh edition and holds between November 8 and 12, 2023, with the theme, “The Edo Story: Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future.”

Other activities lined up to make this year’s Alaghodaro Summit memorable and exciting include the Benin City Tour and Cocktail on Thursday, November 9, 2023, while the main Alaghodaro Summit, Muslim Prayers, State Award and Dinner are scheduled for Friday, November 10, 2023.

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, will be the Governor’s Golf Tournament, Food Tour, and Youth Concert, climaxing with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

In a statement, the Chairperson, Local Organising Committee and Executive Secretary, Alaghodaro Economic Summit Limited/Gte, Eire Ifueko Alufohai, assured of a memorable outing at this year’s Summit being the last edition to be celebrated under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Alufohai said: “The four-day event will kick off officially, November 8, with the Edo Women Conference which will serve as a veritable platform for Edo women to meet, share their experiences, challenges, success stories, and chart a path for sustainable development.

She added: “The Conference will cover a wide range of issues, from women’s participation in politics to entrepreneurship, girl-child empowerment, leadership, and the role of women in societal development. We urge all Edo women to come out and be a part of this very insightful and thought-provoking conversation.”

The Chairman, Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, Michael Osime; Chairman, Benin River Port Project, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun, and the Managing Director, Benin Enterprise Park Limited, Edward Osayande, are expected to lead the cast of panelists at the summit.

The Economic Summit scheduled for Friday, November 10, 2023, will feature two plenary sessions, which will be moderated by Uwa Osa-Oboh, Head of Corporate Development, Africa Capital Alliance, and Vivien Shobo, Chief Executive Officer, FVS Advisory Partners.

The Chairman, Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited, Michael Osime; Group Executive, Projects, SaroAfrica International Limited, Tagbo Ozor; Group Executive Director, WACOT LTD, Alhaji Sadiq Kassim and the Vice President, Global Independent Connect Limited (GICL), Kazeem Oladepo, will in the first plenary session speak on the theme, “A Unique Investment Destination,” highlighting the peculiar investment opportunities that exist in the State.

In the second plenary session, with the theme, “Walking the Talk: From Opportunity to Reality,” the Director, MOWAA Pavillion, Ore Disu; Chairman, Benin River Port Project, Engr. Greg Ogbeifun; Founder and Chief Innovative Officer, Genius Hub Global Initiative, Isimeme Whyte, and Managing Director, Benin Enterprise Park Limited, Edward Osayande, will share success stories on how the governor has walked the talk in Edo, delivering on the transformative projects that dot every nook and cranny of the State, which are positively impacting on the lives of millions of Edo people.
