Rivers United started their group stage CAF Confederation Cup contest with a well deserved 3-0 victory over APC Lobito of Angola on Sunday, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Ghanaian import, Samuel Antwi opened the scoring line when he netted the ball from Paul Odeh’s assist after three minutes for the Nigeria’s surviving representatives on the continent.

After the break, Paul Odeh doubled Rivers United lead in the 46th minute, before Shedrack Aseigbu made it 3-0 in the 61st minute, Score Nigeria reports.

Club Africain (Tunisia) and Dreams FC (Ghana) are the other teams in Group C.

River United top the standings in Group C with three points, however, on goal difference, ahead of Tunisian side Club Africain, who defeated Ghana’s Dreams FC 2-0 on Sunday night.

Notably, no Nigeria club have won the competition since it commenced in 2004.

Next, United will face Dreams FC at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
