Egor Local Government Council has continued the enforcement of its cleanup exercise within the local government area to achieve a healthier and more conducive environment for its residents.

The Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, while on a monitoring tour of the enforcement of the cleanup exercise during the week, reiterated her commitment to the well-being of Egor residents and emphasized the need for keeping the environment habitable and free from pollution that would emanate from improper waste disposal.

The Chairman noted that part of the exercises that mark the Operations Clean-Up Egor is the desilting of drainages to allow the free flow of flood when it rains.

She added that the Council is collaborating with waste managers for the evacuation of garbage from drainages, and also for the pickup and disposal of residents’ waste.

Hon. Ogbemudia advised that waste should be bagged and disposed of properly to avoid the spread of toxic bacteria that are harmful to human health and urged residents to comply with government directives in keeping their environment clean.

She disclosed that environmental task forces have been deployed to strategic locations within the LGA to enforce compliance with the “Operation Clean-Up Egor” exercise, stressing that a clean environment improves healthy living.

According to the Chairman, mobile courts have been set up in public places for easy access for the environmental task force to prosecute offenders, as anyone caught in the act of indiscriminate waste disposal would be made to face the law without sentiment.

She therefore called on residents within the locality to join forces with the government in achieving its aim of eradicating every trace of criminality, thereby making Egor more habitable for dwellers and for businesses to thrive.
