Labour Party’s governorship aspirant, Hon Ernest Osabhuohien Abegbe was on Friday 24th November 2023 honoured with a Prestigious Award of Excellence by the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) Edo State chapter.
The award ceremony which took place at Motel Benin Plaza, GRA, Benin City was in recognition of Abegbe’s immense contribution to the socioeconomic and political development of Edo State, CRPP noted.
Represented at the event by Hon James Eribo, Abegbe appreciated the CRPP for the gesture, which he described as a great motivation for him to do more. He however pointed out that Edo State has all the potential in human and material resources to make her a mega state worthy of emulation in the comity of states.
All that is required according to him is an honest, transparent leadership with unwavering willpower and determination to make her great.
“We shall run a transparent and all-inclusive government that will, for the first time, pave the way for Edo people to govern themselves”, he said.
Speaking in his personal capacity, Hon James Eribo described Abegbe’s antecedents, and his down-to-earth attitude, saying the people earnestly look forward to his emergence as the Labour Party governorship candidate and also be the eventual winner of the governorship election of Edo State 2024, knowing that such development would mean greater dividends of democracy for the people.
The Esan born Edo 2024 governorship hopeful, a financial expert, eonomist and educationist who holds a first degree in Accounting, MBA in Administration, MSc in Economics, PDG in Education, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Taxation and Institute of Management Consultants and a Certified Forensic Accountant said he knows the problems, has the solutions and would set new standards and break records when he assumes office as Edo Governor.
The chairman of the Coalition, Hon Dr Samson Isibor described Hon Ernest Abegbe as a man with a heart of gold, a personality with impeccable strength of character who has contributed immensely to the socioeconomic and political development of Edo State adding that other considerations for honouring him in the midst of others include his high moral credentials, his humane dispositions, philanthropic gestures, huge investments in the state, job Creation, contributions to public welfare, accessibility, uncommon integrity, humility and transparency.
Other awardees were Right Rev Fr Andrew Obinyan, Dr Osahon Enabulele, Hon Anemero Dekeri, a member representing Etsako Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Senator Monday Okpebholo representing Edo Central senatorial district at the Senate, Pastor Peter Ayo Olowojoba and Hon. Christopher Osakwe, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Delta State Government
The CRPP while promising to source for and supports a credible candidate for Edo gubernatorial election 2024, charged Edo people to shine their eyes and beware of money bag politicians.
