Ignite StartupX and the African Centre for Leadership Strategy and Development (Ignite StartupX-Centre LSD) have launched a social campaign for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

The campaign is in commemoration of the International Day of Persons With Disabilities with the theme “United in Action to Restore and Achieve the SDGs for, with and by Persons With Disabilities”.

The campaign started on 15 November 2023 and will go on till 2 December 2023.

The governor of the Executive Council, Ignite StartupX-Centre LSD, Sir Oyoma Ojadonor, through the Commissioner for Special Duties, Miss Orobosa Airhienbuwa, noted that the campaign has been ongoing for the past two weeks.

“We are climaxing it with a Grand TV broadcast on the Nigerian Television Authority NTA on Sunday, 3rd of December 2023 at 1:00 PM as well as the Edo State Broadcasting Service (EBS),” Airhienbuwa said on Wednesday in Benin City.

She also noted that to commemorate the day, the Ignite StartupX-Centre LSD is championing crowdfunding for a young man named Ambrose Aifuwa who is visually impaired (both eyes) to further his education as he is set to pursue his Master’s degree.

“Still in commemoration of the day, here at Ignite StartupX-Centre LSD, in addition to the campaign, we are championing crowdfunding for Ambrose Aifuwa who is visually impaired to further his education and obtain his Master’s degree. We are seeking the sum of two million, five hundred thousand naira (N2.5m) to cover tuition, assistive technology, and other educational expenses for the duration of his Master’s program, which spans one year and six months,” Airhienbuwa said.

“We firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for positive change, and your support will make a significant difference in the life of Ambrose Aifuwa,” she said.
