Warri – Residents of Enamejewa Street in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, were thrown into mourning in the early hours of Monday as a mother of nine allegedly took her own life.

The deceased, a septuagenarian whose name had yet to be mentioned as at the time of writing this report, was said to have hanged herself with her wrapper in a public toilet in the compound where she lived.

Although the reason for her action was not immediately ascertained, some neighbours attributed it to the current economic hardship in the country.

The woman said to be a devout Catholic, hailed from Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that she had earlier threatened to take her own life and had attempted to do it by drinking a poisonous substance the previous day, though it was not successful.
