Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie on Sunday produced another incredible performance, manning the goal post for Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin as his brilliance helped his side snatched a point away from Kano Pillars in the Match Day 10 game of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Benin Arsenals’ goalkeeper also showed his strong character against Enyimba FC on Wednesday in Aba in the rescheduled Match Day one encounter with several blazing saves on his return from national duty with the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles invitee goalkeeper prevented an early goal in the 12th minute of play when he rushed out to stop Kano Pillars forward Mustapher Umar’s invasion and he got punished over the contact as the center referee awarded a penalty kick to Pillars. Pillars legendary captain Rabiu Ali took the spot kick but Amas Obasogie produced a scintillating save to stop the ball from going into the net..

Obasogie later stopped other one-on–one shots at the 45th and 90th minutes to deny the Sai Masu Gida boys from home victory.

As the pressure from the coach Abdu Maikaba’s side continued unabated in the last quarter of the match, coach Monday Odigie brought in Stanley Okorom and Joel Djong to replace Kelly Kester and Sarki Ismael respectively to fortify his defence line. His plan, indeed worked as his side did all that was necessary to share the spoils with Pillars.

Bendel Insurance now have 14 points from ten fixtures and will be hosts to high flying Lobi Stars of Markudi in the Match Day 11 fixture at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on December 2nd.

In a post match interview, Coach Monday Odigie said that he was happy that his side were able to finish the match with a point in the bag. He admitted that it was a difficult game for his team, adding that they are going back to correct their mistakes ahead of their next game in Benin.

While also speaking during the post match interview, Amas Obasogie who was adjudged man of the match said he was happy that Insurance is returning to Benin with a point from a very difficult terrain. On Super Eagles call up, Amas said that it is dream come through. He promised that he will continue to work hard to serve Bendel Insurance and his father’s land well.
