The Chairman of Egor Local Government Area, Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, has inaugurated the task force on environmental sanitation to enforce compliance with Operation Clean-up Egor.

The inauguration which took place on Thursday, 9th November 2023 at the Council’s auditorium had in attendance the 22 members of the committee on environment who were inaugurated with terms of reference for their responsibilities.

The Chairman admonished the task force to be selfless in the discharge of their duties as they are expected to collaborate with waste managers to ensure that residents are properly registered with the Edo State-accredited waste managers for prompt evacuation of refuse.

Taking the members through the terms of reference, the Chairman noted that the task force is expected to apprehend anyone caught dumping waste in an unauthorized place within the LGA and to ensure residents clean up drains directly in front of their premises. She added that the overall responsibility of the task force is to ensure compliance with environmental sanitation within the local government area.

According to Hon. Ogbemudia, Operation Clean-Up Egor is here to stay, and to ensure sustainability, task force has been deployed within the LGA to enforce compliance. She stressed that it is no longer business as usual.

She appealed that the residents should endeavour to pay for services rendered and comply with the waste manager for prompt waste evacuation, as noncompliance with the waste manager would attract sanction from the appropriate authority.
