Police in Edo have arrested no fewer than 26 suspected criminals as the state continues to maintain its enviable security record in the country.

This is in line with the promise of the Commissioner of Police in Edo, CP Mohammed Dankwara, who has severally assured residents and visitors to the state of adequate security of lives and property. The CP has also stated that unrepentant criminals and their allies would never have peace under his watch in the state.

The spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who paraded the suspects before journalists at the police command headquarters in Benin City on Wednesday, said the suspects were arrested at different locations across the state.

Nwabuzor said they were nabbed for crimes ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, cultism, and rape.

He stated further that the arrests followed credible intelligence received by operatives of the command and thanked other sister security agencies for their synergies which culminated in the breakthroughs.

Items paraded as exhibits recovered from the suspects were five locally-made pistols, one English-made pistol said to have been stolen from a retired Army Colonel with live ammunition, six live cartridges and one cut-to-size single barrel gun.
