The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has initiated a major reorganization within the Senate, appointing fresh leadership to head various committees.

In the rearrangement, the Senate President named Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content.

Senator Akpabio also named Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim (APC-Ondo), as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Sen. Patrick Ndubueze (APC-Imo), Chairman, Senate Committee on Steel Development, Sen. Shuaibu Lau (PDP-Taraba), Chairman, Committee on Tourism, Sen. Binos Yaroe (PDP-Adamawa), Chairman, Committee on State and Local Government Affairs.

In addition, the Chairman, Senate Committee on National Atomic and Nuclear Energy is Sen. Sahabi Yau (APC-Zamfara), the Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth and Community Engagement, Sen. Yemi Adaramodu (APC-Ekiti), and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Sport Development is Sen. Kawu Sumaila (NNPP Kano).

Others are, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Olajide Ipinsagba (APC-Ondo), the Chairman, Senate Committee on Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Sen. Ogoshi Onawo (PDP-Nasarawa State), the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah (APC-Anambra), while the Chairman, Senate Committee on Solid Minerals Development, is Sen. Sampson Ekong (PDP-Ekong).

The Senate President said that the action was for effectiveness in the administration of the various committees functions.
