The grand finale of the Asue Ighodalo Unity Gold Cup goes down the wire today, Friday, 22nd December 2023, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The Unity Gold Cup is powered by Dr. Asue Ighodalo and it stands as a symbol of togetherness, peace, inclusivity and bringing together youth teams from the vibrant corners of Edo State.
The competition began on Wednesday, 20th December with Team Edo South, Team Edo Central and Team Edo North getting in the mix for the honour and cash reward.
Nonetheless, it’s Edo South and Edo Central that will go head to head in the final of the two-day round-robin football tournament.
The winners will clinch the trophy and a cash prize of N250,000; while the second and third-placed teams will receive N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
The support of Dr. Ighodalo towards the championship reflects a shared dedication to the well-being and progress of the youths in Edo State.
The tournament also serves as a proactive step towards emphasizing the values of peace and unity that are crucial to the development of Edo State.
