Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Wale Abass, has ordered the arrest of one inspector of police for an alleged shooting of a middle-aged man, simply identified as Lucky.

The police officer whose identity is yet to be disclosed by the force had on December 5, 2023 at about 4:30p.m at Ekrerhavwe Junction, Agbarho, Udu Local Government Area, shot the victim during a stop-and-search duty.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, in a late Tuesday evening statement, said, “CP Abass, On receipt of the sad news ordered the arrest of the inspector for an alleged shooting of one Lucky.

“The police officer had, on December 5, 2023, at about 4:30p.m at Ekrerhavwe Junction, Agbarho, Udu Local Government Area, shot the victim during a stop-and-search duty.”

According to him, the CP also directed that the officer be immediately transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asaba for a thorough and speedy investigation.

“CP Wale Abass commiserates with the injured victim, wishing him a speedy recovery”.

He also noted that the Force, being a disciplined organisation, will not condone such cruel action by any officer, assuring that the offending officer will be subjected to internal disciplinary measures including criminal prosecution.

He, therefore, appealed to members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them justice would be seved.
