Former Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and frontline aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2024 Edo State governorship election, General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), has reiterated that he is the best man for the job.
Airhiavbere stated this in Abuja last week when he received supporters and members of his campaign organization who purchased APC expression of interest and nomination forms for him.
He explained that his chances of winning the governorship ticket of APC on a level playing field was high due to his loyalty to the party, experience, background, and political pedigree.
“Edo is bigger than one individual and no one should arrogate to himself the unnatural and evil responsibility of picking the gubernatorial flag bearer of the APC party because it will not be in her best interest,” Airhiavbere said.
“Nigeria is a democracy of one man, one vote. We must practice what we preach. The party has settled for direct primary. It is the duty of every member to go out there and decide who should be the flag bearer. There should be no pruning or whatever before the time,” he said.
Airhiavbere told his supporters that it was the confidence they have in him that prompted them to buy the APC forms for him in preparation for the primary election.
“It is the same faith all Edo people have for me that propelled me to indicate interest in the beginning. There were so many calls for me to present myself to serve. I heeded the calls and I am in the race to win because I am the best, the very best,” the retired General said.
“I have the experience as a former gubernatorial candidate. I know the terrain. I have the reach, the capacity, the competence and whatever else is required for this assignment and I know for a fact that my chances of winning are brighter,” he said.
General Airhiavbere said Edo is in opposition right now and risks remaining so and detached from the APC-led Federal Government unless it gets it right by deciding on the most qualified and most prepared candidate for the elections.
