Victor Boniface has undergone a successful operation of a groin injury sustained while on international duty with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
German club Bayer Leverkusen via their verified X handle revealed that Boniface was operated on in Berlin in Germany.
The tweet further stated that the striker will return to his club this week to commence his rehabilitation.
He is expected to be out of action for a lengthy period and as a result of it, he will miss Super Eagles’ participation at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
He is one the leading players for Leverkusen this term as Xabi Alonso’s side are pushing for the Bundesliga title and making a mark in Europa League.
He has contributed 10 goals in the domestic league.
