Nigerian singer, songwriter and actor, Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, has gained a massive following with his captivating R&B melodies which fused elements of Igbo indigenous music and Afrobeats, resonating with millions of listeners.

Chike accomplished this feat with his chart-topping track titled “Egwu”, which featured late Afrobeats singer Mohbad.

Since its debut in December 2023, the single has gained widespread commercial success, particularly on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, having been used in over 400,000 videos.

Chike has achieved a major milestone with his latest single as it has now reached the top spot on Turntable top 100, which combines radio and TV airplay with streaming data from platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Audiomack, and Boomplay which is considered the definite ranking in Nigeria.

This song is Chike’s highest charting entry on Turntable top 100 after ‘Running remix’ with Simi peeking in the top 5, gaining over 5.9 million streams on Spotify app since its release a month ago.

Mohbad continues to make waves in the music industry even after his demise as “Egwu” marks his second chart-topping success, following the one week reign of his hit single “Ask About Me” on the charts. His music has experienced a significant commercial revival, with tracks from his EP’s ‘Light’ and ‘Blessed’ soaring on streaming platforms.
