The figures behind Roma’s loan signing of Juventus defender Dean Huijsen have been revealed, while the Giallorossi wait to officially confirm the 18-year-old’s arrival.

Huijsen will move to the Stadio Olimpico on a straight loan deal until the end of the 2023-24 season. Roma will have to pay Juventus a fee of €650,000 to secure the loan, a figure which will drop to €400,000 if Huijsen plays 10 or more matches for the Giallorossi.

It has been well documented that Roma are extremely short on funds to play with in the January transfer window Recent reports indicated that the club had less than €2m in their budget to spend this month, including on player wages plus transfer and agent fees.

This is why a loan deal for a promising youngster makes sense for Roma in their current situation.

However, Roma will also part ways with a youngster of their own to facilitate a move for Huijsen. Primavera striker Luca Cherubini will move to Juventus on a permanent deal, although Roma will retain 50% of any future sell-on fee. Cherubini’s move is a separate transfer to Huijsen’s loan deal.

Huijsen arrived in Roma for his medical and document signing late on Friday afternoon and is expected to officially join in the coming hours.

Reports from Calciomercato.com suggest that Roma have already submitted the necessary documentation to the Lega Serie A.
