The Lagos-centred sci-fi series, ‘Iwaju’, is all set to start streaming on Disney Plus in February.

Kigali Media in partnership with Disney Animation confirmed February 28th, 2024 as its release date.

This follows the initial revelation made during the 2023 African International Film Festival stating the development and production of the animated series took a total of four years.

The animated series ‘Iwaju’, created by the talented trio of Hamid Ibrahim, Toluwalakin Olowofoyeko and Ziki Nelson, is set in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria. It details the coming of age story of Tola, a young girl from the wealthy island, and her friend Kole, a self-taught tech expert who in line discovers the secrets and hidden dangers of their different worlds.

The movie written by Adeola Hudson and Halima Hudson features the voices of Nigerian-American actors Dayo Okeniyi, Simisola Gbadamosi, Veteran Actor Femi Branch, Siji Soetan, British-Nigerian actress, Weruche Opia, Shaffy Bello, Obi Maduegbuna, Kehinde Bankole, Chioma Omeruah, Bisola Ayeiola and Tosin Oshinaike behind the characters in the animation series.

Kugali Media is geared up to release this anticipated film ‘Iwaju: A Day Ahead’. This movie series aims to shed light on the untold stories of the founders of their esteemed pan-African entertainment company. Shot across three continents, this piece is set to captivate the heart of viewers.
