Edo State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, on Monday received a heroic welcome to the state as large numbers of party supporters trooped out en masse to welcome him on his first official visit as the chairman of the party ahead of the party’s primary election in February.

Addressing newsmen at the party’s State Secretariat located at Airport Road, Benin City, the Edo State capital, Tenebe said the APC is battle-ready to reclaim the state in the forthcoming governorship election.

“We are willing, able, ready to take over the state,” he said.

He stated that it was his first time of stepping into the state since the former state chairman of the party resigned to contest the 2024 Edo Governorship election.

“Now I am the acting chairman and there are a lot of things that we are going to tackle,” he said.

The state acting chairman of APC stated that it was not going to be business as usual in dealing with the ruling party in the state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“It is not going to be business as usual, as i am now the chairman of the party and what we know how to do we will do it best. We know that a lot of persons are ready to come into the party and we are ready to welcome them,” he stated.

On number of aspirants that have purchased the expression of interest and nomination form of the APC, Tenebe stated that the party was working on it and would soon release the list of all aspirants that have purchased expression of interest and nomination form to run under the umbrella of the party.

Tenebe stated that the deadline for the purchase of the expression of interest and nomination form of the party closes on Monday 29th January, 2024. He pointed out that however that can be extended.

“Well the deadline for the sales of expression of interest and nomination form is today, but it can be extended because a lot of things are going on behind to strengthen the party so as to more aspirants to vie for the ticket of the party”.

An APC chieftain, Comrade Shabba Adams, who spoke with our correspondent at the Benin Airport, to welcome the new state acting chairman, expressed optimism that the new APC state chairman, Hon. Jarrett Tenebe, will lead the party to make significant strides in Edo state.

According to Shabba, “Tenebe is seen as a figure who will bring positive changes to our party the APC, he is the “Moses of their time”.

Shabba stated that, the new APC state Chairman is here to restore and claim Edo State, and all the party supporters are solidly behind him as he is a leader who will deliver the Edo state back to APC.

Also speaking, Hon. Daniel Asekhame, a two-time former local government chairman in Owan West, express confidence in Hon. Jarrett Tenebe, the new APC state chairman.

Asekhame said, “I see Tenebe as having the capacity to lead and i anticipates positive developments, particularly in the upcoming Edo State Gubernatorial Election.
