Edo State Goventment has officially extended the deadline for payment of the 2024 Hajj fare to January 31, 2024, a decision validated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The crucial update was disclosed recently by the Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Ibrahim Oyarekhua, in a chat with some stakeholders and intending pilgrims in Benin City.

According to him, the extension of the payment deadline signifies the state’s commitment to accommodating aspiring pilgrims, providing them with an extended timeframe to fulfill their financial obligations for the revered Hajj pilgrimage.

He added that the endorsement from NAHCON emphasises the collaborative efforts between states and national bodies in ensuring a more inclusive and supportive approach for intending pilgrims.

Sheikh Ibrahim said: “We are happy to inform you that the deadline for payment of the 2024 Hajj fare which was earlier slated for December 31, 2023, has been extended to January 31, 2024. We are happy for this development. The announcement of the extended deadline to January 31 by NAHCON grants additional leeway to individuals in Edo State, enabling them to finalize their payments and secure their participation in the upcoming 2024 Hajj”
