In preparation for the upcoming Bye Elections and Court-Ordered Fresh/Re-run Elections on February 3rd, 2024, The Electoral Institute (TEI) hosts a one-day Training-of-Trainers Workshop.

The workshop brought together TEI Trainers, staff from collaborating departments, and State Training Officers (STOs) who joined remotely via ZOOM. The objective was to enlighten participants on recent innovations in the electoral process.

Participants, including Coordinating Trainers, were tasked with acquiring the skills to conduct detailed and effective training sessions in all affected states. The emphasis was on their ability to train Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, and Assistant Presiding Officers on billing and counting procedures.

The workshop also aimed to familiarize participants with the operation of the Biometric Voter Authentication System (BVAS) and the uploading of election results on the INEC Result portal using the INEC Results Viewing Device (IREV).

Addressing the trainees, Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris, Director-General of TEI, stressed the importance of grasping innovations and new initiatives to pass on this knowledge to election personnel. He highlighted TEI’s contributions to the electoral process, such as E-learning platforms and the INEC Training bot used during the 2023 General Elections.

Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, National Commissioner and Chair of the Board of Electoral Institute (BEI), represented by the DG Electoral Institute, officially opened the training.

He urged participants to be exemplary ambassadors of the Commission, emphasizing their crucial roles as Trainers, Coordinators, and Monitors before, during, and after the elections across the Federation.
