In a commendable move to mitigate the educational setbacks caused by the 2022 war in Ukraine, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has made a provision for Nigerian students in Ukraine studying medicine and dentistry for a program that should have ended in June which was however disrupted due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022.

In a report by the Medical World Nigeria, the MDCN seeks to inform members of the public, guardians, parents, and other stakeholders that MDCN is setting up a six months special program for medical and dental students who trained in Ukraine but could not finish their program due to the war in 2022.

While listing certain criteria that should be followed to participate in the program, interested applicants are expected to visit the official website of the council to commence the registration process as the program is scheduled to start in February 2024.

In addition, interested applicants are required to ensure that the necessary documentation, certificates, and transcripts are submitted to the MDCN within the stipulated time.

According to MDCN management, applicants are mandated to have a minimum of 75 percent attendance at the program which is expected to serve as a confirmation of each candidate’s eligibility to sit for the Council’s assessment Examination.

The innovative initiative not only addresses the academic gaps but also emphasizes the importance of holistic support in the face of adversity
