… says rebuilding of Oba Market and Ekiosa top priority

The Executive Chairman of Oredo Government Government Area Dr. Tom Osaze Obaseki has said infrastructure, road and other capital projects will gulp 66 percent of N12 billion 2024 budget proposal of the council, representing over N8 billion.

The Chairman made this revelation while presenting Oredo’s 2024 budget proposal and appropriation law to the Legislative arm of the Local Government to include Grading/Surfacing and Maintaining of over 500km of roads, Construction and Renovation of schools and health centres, establishment of recreational parks and other envirnmental friendly projects, among others.

The Chairman noted further that while about 30 percent of previous years budget estimate was for capital expenditure, there was a need to carry out more projects that will have direct impact on Oredo residents and improve the economy while creating numerous economic opportunities hence the need to increase capital expenditure by over 500 percent from the previous year from about N1.5 billion to over N8 billion.

On Oba Market and Ekiosa Market, the Chairman noted that it had been captured in the budget and the rebuilding process would commence before the end of January after concluding all the contracting processes.

The Chairman enjoined the people of Oredo to brace up for the massive development works that will be occasioned by the “Budget of Growth and Prosperity – A New Beginning,” which has the capacity to progressively stimulate Oredo’s economy and create massive employment opportunities.

Some residents present during the presentation commended the Chairman for ensuring that for the first time in the history of the Council, capital expenditure exceeded other expenses and vowed their continuous support for the council’s leadership under Dr. Tom Osaze Obaseki.
