With the introduction of the EdoBEST programme into the education system, the Edo State Government has improved stakeholder collaboration and ultimately learning outcomes for children in Edo State, findings have shown.

Parents and guardians made this statement at the Parent Teacher Conference held across all 1,289 government-owned basic education schools to mark the end of the term in December. They noted that improved stakeholder collaboration through the Parent Teacher Conference has made room for improved learning outcomes, across the state.

A parent with a child at Iviyeneva Primary School noted that he is always eager for the Parent-Teacher Conference as it provides an opportunity to track the progress of his three children in the school. Speaking with one of his children’s teachers, he commended her teaching style as his son took first in his class.

“The introduction of the Parent Teacher Conference has helped me a lot. It has helped me keep track of my children’s progress in school. I’m impressed with their performance especially my son in Primary 3 who topped his class”, Donald Eze noted.

The conference allows parents and teachers to discuss children’s performance while highlighting areas for improvement just as it also gives room for feedback from both parents and teachers as both academic and behavioural performances are discussed.

Parents also commended the EdoBEST@Home platform as a parent of two JSS3 children in Emotan College commended her children’s performance and attributed it to a combination of the lessons taught and the use of the EdoBEST@Home platform to provide more learning resources for her children.

“The use of the EdoBEST@Home platform has helped my children during study time. Now, they have access to extra resources to help them learn better”, Eseosa Osaigbovo, a mother of twin JSS 3 daughters in Emotan College said.

The conferences held at the middle and end of each term usually record a mass attendance of parents who are interested in their children’s academic progress.
