The Confederation for African Football (CAF) has disclosed the financial rewards each participating team is expected to receive at different stages of the ongoing African Cup of Nations taking place in Ivory Coast.

The winner of the prestigious tournament is expected to receive $7 million for scaling through and eventually clinching the prestigious trophy. On the other end, the runners-up will secure a commendable $4 million.

Further down the ranks, the losing quarter-finalists (four teams) will each receive $1.3 million. The eight teams knocked out in the round of 16 are not left out as they would be receiving $800,000 each.

Additionally, two teams that finish third in their respective groups but do not advance beyond this point will secure a noteworthy $700,000 each.

Even teams finishing at the bottom of their groups will be rewarded for their participation, with the six teams ranked fourth in their groups receiving $500,000 each. This inclusive distribution of prize money aims to recognize and incentivize all participating nations, irrespective of their final standing in the competition.

The competition currently in the Semi-Finals stage has Nigeria who became the first nation to reach the AFCON semi-finals with a hard-fought victory over Angola, before DR Congo came from behind to beat Guinea 3-1.

Ivory Coast joined the League of Victors beating Mali 2-1 after extra time, and South Africa beat Cape Verde 2-1 on penalties to clinch the last semifinal ticket.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria would battle South Africa in their next Semi-Final clash at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, in Ivory Coast.
