Former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State and a frontline governorship aspirant of the party in the Edo 2024 election, Col. (Dr) David Imuse (rtd), has pledged to lay a solid economic development plan for the state if he emerges as governor.
In his consultation meetings across Edo South and Central recently, Imuse consistently said his vision for Edo State is to put in place a 25-year solid economic development rolling plan that will ensure the state becomes one of the five most industrialised economies (states) and investment destinations in Nigeria.
Imuse, who hails from Uhiele-Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo Central Senatorial District, also disclosed that he would ensure a participatory democracy, promote equity, social justice, shared vision, abundant opportunities and possibilities, driven on knowledge and technology-based economy as the driving principle of state policy.
He explained that his short- and medium-term objective has been carefully worked out via phase by phase policy, project and programmes viv-a-vis Nigeria’s current politico-economic reality that will grow the economy and spur all round industrialization by tapping the intellectual and creative minds of Edo people wherever they are.
“Luckily enough, Edo State is favourably positioned geographically with a people divinely designed, prepared and destined to be the catalyst that will ignite the expected consequential change that will make the South-South geopolitical zone the strongest economy in Nigeria,” he said.
