The Edo Labour Party governorship aspirants across the state have agreed to work together in a joint ticket arrangement. The joint ticket, which will be led by Mr Ernest Abegbe ahead of the party primary come February 22, 2024, will have other aspirants synchronizing to win the election and forming a government with the diverse competences of all the joint ticket aspirants.
The aspirants are Ernest Abegbe, Dr Aruna Braimoh Denzel, Bar Ihueghian Guobadia, Oseretin Ighile, Engr. Morrison Eghobamien, Bar Efosa Ogieriakhi, and others
Speaking on behalf of other aspirants, Dr Aruna Braimoh Denzel and Bar Ihueghian Guobadia disclosed that the decision to work for a joint ticket was occasioned by the need to form a workable alliance that will guarantee landslide and unquestionable victory aimed at rescuing Edo State.
According to Dr Aruna Braimoh, “Having carefully perused and assessed all factors, we decided to join forces to work together, with Mr Abegbe as the Lead Aspirant. We are convinced that he is able to handle this because he is a man with relevant multiple qualifications, very clean and sellable credentials just as well as other aspirants in this joint ticket arrangement.
“The situation we have today calls for serious concerns as our dear state is in a critical condition as the vast majority of our people groan in pains and afflictions, with everyone having his/her fair share of this very unfortunate situation. The economy has continued to experience decline/contraction with low Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
“Our youths are faced with the worst unemployment crisis in the midst of alarming corruption and insecurity. Human capacity building is low, small-scale businesses suffer neglect and struggle to survive. In all, personal interest is being elevated over and above people’s interest, and the situation has turned into survival of the fittest. Should we continue like this? No.
“Thus, we the undersigned group of aspirants for Edo 2024 therefore unanimously resolved to form a Joint Ticket to pioneer and power Edo Paradigm Shift 2024 that will put Edo State in a distinct path to free the state from the present despair so as to secure the promises of her future. We envisage a government that will devotedly focus on good Governance, Infrastructure, Economy, Education, Youth/ Women Development and Empowerment, Security, Transparency and Accountability.
“Our proposed government will immediately address the pressing issues of unemployment, youth idleness, and dependency, as these have greatly contributed to the suffering, pains and frustration experienced by our people. To achieve this, we will be implementing our comprehensive plans and programmes of industrial and agricultural revolution in each of the 18 local government areas, and the development/empowerment of youth and women.”
The group described Mr Ernest as a man with admirable strength of character, alluring personality, clean and sellable credentials; distinctive qualifications, good antecedents, practical experience, capacity, integrity, humility, honest and has a clear understanding of the problems facing Edo people and is armed with practical solutions just like all other aspirants of the joint ticket. Other considerations are his immense contributions to the socio-economy and political development of the state with huge investment, job creation and unusual empathy.
“We are fully aware that Edo people are politically enlightened and have always had unwavering support for people with clean, admirable and sellable credentials like Mr Abegbe and other joint aspirants. Our merger is borne out of already planned individual agenda which have similar programmes, ideologies and manifestos. We will engage in joint campaign and render result oriented solutions to every challenge in the state. We therefore urge our highly esteemed supporters to work together with us so as to emerge victorious,” according to the group.
The financial expert, economist and educationist, Mr Ernest, thank God and appreciated the group for their foresight, noting that with God and the people, their victory is sure.
