President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead a presidential delegation to support Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, who play in the final match of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) championship on Sunday in Côte d’Ivoire.

Nigeria will play against host nation, Côte d’Ivoire in the finals.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha said President Tinubu believes that Shettima’s presence at the finals alongside the delegation is a testament to the government’s unwavering support for the team and its dedication to their success.

Nkwocha said the Federal Government has called on all Nigerians at home and abroad to unite in support of the Super Eagles and to raise their voices in encouragement, while creating a wave of national pride that propels the team to glory.

The Vice President had represented the President at the semi-finals when the Super Eagles defeated the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
