BENIN CITY – Gay Relationship or act of homosexuality is purely a criminal offence in Nigeria, since almost two decades it has been officially outward and passed into law in Nigeria.

Even the muslem sharia law, the Christian faith and the African traditional religion, all forbids it in totality. It is therefore completely tubulous as the nefarious act is capable of defying the traditional laws and heritage of the land in some communities and the offence attracts outright death sentence or life imprisonment as the case may be.

Despite the seriousness by all tiers of government agents and local communities to enforce the law, miscreants and lawless people still indulge in the illicit act secretly.

The story has been reported in Benin about two young men in their late and early thirties, indulging in homosexuality, an ungodly relationship believed to have started quite sometime ago.

Unknowingly for these two young men, Ewemade Joseph Oghogho an Accounting graduate of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma and Prince Oni Edigin Ogbeide, a final year geography student of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, that some people have been monitoring both of them in recent time.

Unfortunately, luck ran out of them on February 14, 2024 when the two evil love birds went out on valentine lovers’ day enjoyment spree like other youth in the area, were caught by the eagle eyed youths who have been on their trail, hiding around and watching them. They were both caught in the act of making love in an uncompleted building in a spot around Siluko Road area of Benin City.

According to a very reliable Ewemade family source, said they the family have been seeing both of them around, always together as intimate friends, but never knew that their togetherness was a naughty and clandestine one at that, otherwise they would have since intervened to stop it at all cost.
However, during the scuffle of attack and resistance, Ewemade Joseph managed to escape from the angry mobs, while his partner Prince Oni Edigin Ogbeide was lynched and killed on the spot.

They later in anger advanced to the family house of the escapee key actor Ewemade Joseph Oghogho at No 1, Power line, Ewemade street, off Upper Siluko Road, Benin City. All the occupants of the house including his family scampered for safety, on sighting the crowd while they destroyed many valuable properties in the house.

The family of the late Prince Oni Edigin Ogbeide, a son of a very rich prominent and influential chief/politician in the Ogida axis of Benin City have also vowed to trail and smoke out and get the fleeing Ewemade Joseph dead or alive. Some of the Edigin Ogbeide family youths were quoted as saying that their own can’t be killed like that, while his partner Ewemade Joseph will be left alive and so he too must die to join his late partner. Also the Siluko Quarters Community elders are also after him for daring to defile their ancestral land and must be caught to come and face the penalty, to avoid calamity in the land.

However, when contacted, the Divisional Police Head Quarter of Ogida Police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was said to have travelled for official duty, but it was confirmed by an anonymous officer that the station was aware and that investigation was ongoing.

Since that fateful day of the incident, nothing has been heard about the run away Ewemade Joseph Oghogho, nor sighted anywhere around.
