Quadri Aruna and Offiong Edem won one silver and one bronze in table tennis respectively at the ongoing 13th 2023 African Games holding in Ghana.

African champion, Quadri Aruna lost to Egypt’s Omar Assar 3-4 in the men’s singles final to settle for silver medal, while Offiong Edem grabbed bronze medal after losing to Egypt’s Dina Meshref 0-4 in the women’s singles semifinals match.

Speaking after winning the Silver, Aruna described the match as “difficult” and hailed the level of competitiveness of table tennis on the continent.

“It’s really hard and tough. But of course, we keep fighting and fighting. It’s not about winning all the time, it’s about sportsmanship.
“This is why we are professionals; this is what we are made to do. It’s always a very difficult match; it shows that the level of the competition is actually improving,” he said.
