The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood has just lost one of its finest actor, Mr. John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu who passed away at age 62, in the early hours of Saturday, March 2, at Evercare Hospital in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.

The veteran comedy actor who was born on October 17, 1961 was said to have died after battling several health challenges these past few years which had even led to the amputation of his leg.

In 2019, Mr. Ibu alleged that he was being inflicted spiritually by some of his kinsmen who were envious of his successful career. Ibu also mentioned that some of his domestic workers were paid to poison him severally throughout his career.

The news of his death shook many of his fans and colleagues who have taken to several social media platforms to express their grief and sadness and also reminiscing the joy he had brought through his movies.

The iconic actor’s demise, his contributions to the Nollywood industry – his vast impact to the comedic genre and his legacy would not be forgotten soon.

The deceased is survived by 3 serving children.
