The All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Ondo State was thrown into mourning following the untimely death of one of its prominent governorship aspirants, Dr. Paul Akintelure.

The deceased, a respected medical doctor, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday in the course of a brief illness in Lagos, leaving behind a legacy of political ambition and dedication to public service.

The news of Akintelure’s demise was met with shock and sadness by party members and leaders. In a statement released by the state’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaiye, the APC expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a cherished member and a promising candidate for the upcoming governorship primary.

Ade Adetimehin, the state chairman of the APC, remembered Akintelure as a personal friend with whom he shared a longstanding and positive relationship. Adetimehin praised Akintelure’s dedication to the party and his vision for the development and progress of Ondo State.

“The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State is saddened over the death of one of its gladiators, Dr. Paul Akintelure. He was a governorship aspirant, getting ready to participate in the party’s primary slated for next month,” the statement read.

The APC’s tribute also highlighted Akintelure’s commitment to public service and his advocacy for unity and progress. His sudden passing has not only shocked the members of the party but has also left a void in the aspirations of many who believed in his leadership and vision for the state.

It was gathered that before his death, Akintelure had raised concerns about threats to his life, both direct and indirect. Despite these challenges, he remained resolute in his dedication to standing up for what was right and just. His spokesperson, Oladapo Akintelure, shared Akintelure’s sentiments of hope for peace, progress and unity among the people of Ondo State.

Recall that Akintelure’s political journey included previous campaigns as the deputy governorship candidate under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and a senatorial candidate. His contributions to the political space were acknowledged by many and his loss is deeply felt across party lines.

Meanwhile, the APC and the people of Ondo State, mourning the passing of Dr. Paul Akintelure, extended their condolences to his immediate family, the Igbotako Community, his political associates, and the Nigerian Medical Association.
