The Arewa Community People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State, has appointed Alhaji Usman Sarehasu as Acting Chairman following the removal of Alhaji Sanni Muhammed as Chairman.

At a gathering of the Arewa Community in Edo State, the President General, Arewa Forum, Edo State, and convener of the gathering, Alhaji Sahabi Aliu Umaru, said Sanni has been in office for upward of 16 years without conducting an election to usher in a new executive.

Besides, he said Sanni had on several occasions received various items on behalf of the Arewa Community without accountability and given the people a sense of belonging.

Alhaji Umaru described Sanni’s remaining in office after many years as illegality, saying that the Arewa Community across the three senatorial districts cannot continue to thrive in and support illegality.

According to him, Sanni is using his position to work for the opposition party, adding that if Sanni remains in office, the Arewa Community members may work for the opposition party in the forthcoming Edo governorship election.
