As part of Easter activities, Edo State Government, through its Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues has collaborated with Obohsa Orphanage Home to celebrate “Easter Fun Day” for Edo Children in Orphanage Homes.

Addressing the children at the State Secretariat in Benin City, Hon.Christabel Omoh Ekwu, Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, who was represented by the
Director of Child Development Department, Kate Bello charged the children to be in their best behaviour, as it will encourage proprietors of Orphanage Homes to put in their best in ensuring their safety and care.

The Commissioner also advised the children on the need to build self esteemed, stressing that being in an orphanage home has no limitations especially in a State like Edo where the Obaseki led Government has prioritized the welfare and interest of the children.

“Orphanage Home has no limitation of any kind, it is possible to actualize your dream even when you are raised from the orphanage home, don’t look down on yourself, always keep your head up high.” She advised.

Hon. Ekwu further encouraged proprietors of Orphanage Homes to key into the Obaseki led administration’s agenda by putting the interest of the children into consideration at the point of making vital decisions, warning orphanage Homes that are still hell bent in sharp practices and illegal activities to desist from them, as the law will take its due course on anyone apprehended.

Hon. Ekwu noted, “I want to encourage Home Owners who are yet to set their records straight with the Ministry to do so, please stay away from practices that are against the operational ethics of the Orphanage Homes in Edo State”.

The Proprietor of Obohsa Orphanage, Ken Obohsa asserted that there was a great need to celebrate the indomitable spirit of the beautiful souls, adding that the Easter Fun Day celebration was a testament to the incredible kindness and support for the children.

He further explained that the celebration was a reminder of the importance of compassion, the power of love and the difference they can make in a child’s life, while appreciating Governor Godwin Obaseki for his inclusiveness of children in governance.

Master Elijah Hallelujah and Miss Doris Albert from Obohsa Orphanage Home expressed delight at having the Easter Fun Day.
