The Management of Edo State University Uzairue has announced the promotion of 19 academic staff members of the university to the rank of Professors and Associate Professors.

The Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, who made this known during the senate meeting held recently at the University Senate Chamber on behalf of the Governing Council, said the approval of the promotions came after the various academic staff scaled through the external assessment carried out by the University.

A breakdown shows that the academic staff promoted to Professorial cadre include Dr. Vincent Kenechi Abanihi, Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering (promoted posthumously), Dr. Isreal Uzuazor Siloko, Department of Mathematics, Dr. Moses Anthony Ugbenyen, Department of Biochemistry, Dr. Samuel Adinoyi Seriki, Department of Physiology, and Dr. Abayomi Joshua Jegede, Department of Computer Science.

Those promoted to Associate Professors are Dr. Joshua Ojo Nehinbe, Department of Computer Science, Engr. Dr. Henry Erialoude Amhenrior, Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Dr. Simon Ejokema Imoisi, Department of Public and International Law, Dr. Braimoh Abdullahi Ikharo, Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. Fredrick Ogbeide, Department of Political Science, Dr. Ehis Taiwo Omoluabi, Department of Business Administration, Dr. Oseremen Ebhote, Department of Business Administration, Dr. Wilfred O. Olley, Department of Mass Communication, Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Egielewa, Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Kenneth Kennedy Adama, Department of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Daniel Aliu, Department of Computer Engineering, Dr. (Mrs.) Marian Onwude Agbugui, Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Sunday Eghosasere Omozuwa, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Dr. Friday Emeakpor Ogbetere, Department of Medicine & Surgery.

Congratulating the newly promoted Professors and Associate Professors, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the promotions were well-earned. He commended their selfless service towards the achievement of the University’s corporate goals through excellent teaching, quality research and community engagements, while also advising them not to loosen up but work assiduously on their responsibilities to justify the confidence reposed in them by the authorities of the University and the society at large.

The Registrar, Mr. Habib I. Ekhalefo, on his part, congratulated the newly elevated professors for attaining the height of their teaching careers.

Reacting, one of the newly promoted professors, Prof. Samuel Adinoyi Seriki, Acting Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, expressed great joy to the Vice Chancellor and the Management Staff for the excellent environment that brought about this great accomplishment. He said it was a thing of joy to see that their hard work was being rewarded and it was indeed a challenge to do more.

Prof. Seriki promised his continuous readiness to intensify efforts toward advancing the University’s mission of providing academic excellence to the Nigerian society and the world at large.
