…commends initiatives

Executive Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Collins Ogbewe, weekend, performed groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony of a multi-million naira primary healthcare centre at Orovie Village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, just as he has commended the Enogie, HRH Iyi-Ewuare Eguaveon, elders and people of the community for the initiatives.

Hon. Ogbewe thanked the Enogie and elders for providing free land to government for the laudable project, insisting that it is in line with Mr Governor’s vision to ensure accessible health care delivery to the people.

The council boss assured of the Edo State government collaboration with the community to ensure speedy completion of the primary healthcare centre for public use, saying the health centre will be useful to pregnant women, nursing mothers, children and old people.

He called on all other communities in the local government areas to take a cue from Orovie with a view to partnering with the government at all levels to promote development in their localities, while reiterating his leadership resolves to consider the request for the construction of the 25 kilometre roads from Ekenhuan Road, which passes through Orovie and terminates at Egor, since about 16 communities are around Orovie, for easy access to the health centre.

On his part, the Enogie Iyi-Ewuare Eguaveon thanked the council chairman for finding time to honour his invitation for the groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony, despite his tight official schedules.

He said Hon. Ogbewe had distinguished himself as a true leader, whose passion for transparency and accountable leadership had promoted unity, peace and developments in the whole of Ovia North East Local Government Area, pointing out that the initiatives for the primary healthcare centre were borne out of the challenges associated with the assessment of healthcare delivery system for decades as a result of the deplorable roads in the locality.

He said having considered the plight of pregnant women and nursing mothers from the 16 communities around his Orovie Village, it became necessary and expedient to allocate land for the project, maintaining that by this development, the people are heaving a sigh of relief in accessing health care.

In the same vein, the general secretary of the community, Elder Omorose David, also thanked the council boss for the his humble dispositions in not only granting the request to attend the groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony but for taking it upon himself and that of the community to ensure accessible healthcare delivery to the people which he said, had remained the visions of both the Federal and Edo State governments at all the local government wards.

Omorose said the success of the groundbreaking/foundation laying ceremony could not have been achieved but for the timely acceptance and consideration of the request letter by Mr. Chairman, insisting that the council boss has brought light to the community and its environs, especially in view of its former status as dark continent being the Ekaladerhan district council areas.

The general secretary affirmed that the design for the building of the primary healthcare centre comprises the doctors and nurses’ quarters as well as security post and pharmacy, among others.

He solicited on behalf of the Enogie, elders and people the kind support of Mr Governor for the timely execution and handover of the viable project, noting that the project will also boost the revenue drive of the government and health status of the people, just as he has assured of the community’s efforts to protect the facilities when completed.
