Phil Foden continues to inspire Manchester City and write his name in the Premier League record books.

During Manchester City’s victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday night, Phil Foden achieved a record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo and two other Premier League legends.

City defeated Aston Villa 4 – to level on points with Liverpool, as they delivered a commanding performance against Unai Emery’s side at the Etihad Stadium

City went ahead thanks to Rodri in the 11th minute before Jhon Duran equalised nine minutes later.

Foden made it 2-1 just shy of half-time before adding two further goals in the second half to complete his hat-trick and seal a 4-1 victory for his side.

So far in the 23/24 season, Foden has managed 21 goals and 10 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for Manchester City.

“I’m loving my football; playing with a smile on my face, I’m just trying to help the team because I know I’m capable of scoring goals. Today I showed that. I set myself better than last season. Trying to get more goal contributions. I’m up this year. Doing well.” Foden said after the game

He also added: “I see myself as a technical player in the pockets and out wide I can do that job. But I prefer in the middle. This year I’m growing into the game. The manager spoke about showing rhythm and slowing the game down. I’ve added that to my game as well. Before I was going so quick; attacking every action. Now I’m getting the balance just right.

“I always try and arrive in the box. That’s where the goals are at and you can get at least five a season arriving in the box late. I still have a lot to improve on and I’m still working on that position.”
