The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, who disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba, said the deceased, a mother of three, was stabbed to death by the suspect when she paid his family a visit.

On April 5, 2024, at about 2300hours, one Ngozi Sharon William went to visit a family friend, one Mr Nicholas Charles ‘m’ and his wife at No.10 Adizue Onochei Street, Asaba,” the CP stated.

“While the said Ngozi was in the apartment, a disagreement ensued between herself and the said Nicholas, which took them to the kitchen. During the course of the disagreement, the suspect, Mr. Nicholas picked a knife on the fridge and stabbed the victim, which led to her death. Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.”

Report gathered that Sharon, from Enugu State, also worked with the suspect’s wife, Mrs. Ijeoma Precious Nicholas.
According to a Delta activist, Marvin Mordi, Sharon assisted Mrs. Nicholas in producing fresh fruit juice and tiger nut drink, which she sells every Sunday at House on the Rock Church, in Asaba.

“They make the drink in the house of Mrs. Nicholas, mostly at night, and after production they supply in the morning,” he explained.

“Based on this policy, Sharon closes from work everyday at 5am and either Mrs. Ijeoma Nicholas or Mr. Charles Nicholas drops her everyday at her house.

“Sharon had an issue with her friend, Mrs Ijeoma Precious Nicholas, according to Sharon’s daughter, which made her stop work for about 2 weeks.

“During the Easter celebration, Ijeoma Precious Nicholas called Sharon and pleaded with her to please come and assist her in the production, saying that the pressure was much on her.

“Sharon obliged and resumed on Easter Monday. She was stabbed to death on Friday, same week and her dead body was dumped at her employee street half naked.

“It was revealed by Sharon’s daughter that her mother left for Mrs Ijeoma house to help her produce fresh fruit juice. They became concerned when their mom didn’t return and neither Mrs. Ijeoma nor the husband dropped her as usual.

“Mrs Ijeoma Precious Nicholas’ husband has been arrested and currently at the police headquarters for further investigation while she is on the run.

“Mrs Ijeoma Precious Nicholas is a worker at the House on The Rock Church Asaba same as her husband who is also in Protocol department of the church and a Nollywood actor.

Meanwhile, following a rival cult war in Ogwashi-Uku, headquarters of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, a three-member suspected cult gang has been apprehended somewhere in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis.

The said men who were driving on a red Venza car were apprehended by men of Ogwashi-uku vigilante group. They were arrested on the same day two suspected cult members were shot dead at two different locations within the metropolis.

Making the disclosure, a reliable member of the community vigilante who craved anonymity, said the suspected youths were riding on two Venza cars.

“One of the cars was painted white, while the one we apprehended with three youths inside was painted red. When we noticed the two vehicles, we suspected their movements and went after them.

“We succeeded in apprehending one of the Venza with three youths in the car. We handed them over to the police for further investigation.

“The police while searching the vehicle, recovered a cutlass, but somehow, we believe their could be further incriminating items in the vehicle. And this incident was on the same day some cult groups murdered two people in Ogwashi-Uku here,” he said.

Speaking on the development, a community leader who pleaded anonymity for security reasons applauded members of Ogwashi-Uku vigilante group for their doggedness.

While calling on them to collaborate with other security agents to bring cult clashes within the community to an end, he maintained that the local security outfits are in a better position to assist the police in flushing out the cult groups.

“I am saying this because, most of these bad boys who commit these crimes are community based individuals. Most of them are indigenes and live within the locality. It is therefore pertinent that our vigilante group collaborate with the police to flush out these youths.

“Even the Anti-cult Volunteer Group, which we have here in Ogwashi-Uku, I don’t know what they are doing about this happening. They were inaugurated during the government of Chief Isaac Anwuzia, but some years down the line, not much is heard about them anymore.

“We only see them in their patrol vehicles from time to time, but what we expect from them is to be proactive by giving timely information to the police about the activities of these cult boys.

“Otherwise, what is their usefulness if with their presence, cult killings continue unabetted? It is most unfortunate,” he said.
