Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured their spot in the women’s football event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after playing to a goalless draw against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in Pretoria on Tuesday.
This marks Nigeria’s first qualification since the 2008 Beijing Games.
Their narrow 1-0 victory in the previous first leg match in Abuja, courtesy of Rasheedat Ajibade’s penalty kick was enough to propel the 9-time African champions to Paris on a 1-0 aggregate scoreline.

The trend continued in the second half as the Super Falcons managed to maintain a vital 0-0 draw against the hosts.
Although the Super Falcons had a prime opportunity in the second half, with Uchenna Kanu missing a crucial chance, the scoreline remained level.
Despite playing at home, South Africa struggled to break through Nigeria’s defense, failing to generate significant scoring opportunities against the Super Falcons.
