Stevik Event Centre in Benin City came alive recently as the graduating class of 2023 in Mass Communication Students’ Association (MACSA) hosted a dinner tagged “El Casino”.

The well-attended dinner kick-started with the national anthem and address of welcome by the outgoing MACSA President, Comr. Ogunniyi Oluwarotimi Paul. The Presidential Merit Award and Certificate of Awards cum Service followed, where those who had served the association diligently were awarded by the President.

The crowning moment of the night came with the highly anticipated Mr. and Miss MACSA Beauty Pageantry. The event introduced a new category, Mr and Miss Photogenic, which was bagged by contestants 2 and 3, Emmanuel Godwin Norman and Godwin God’sgift. The crowd erupted in cheers as contestant 2, known by his stage name D’Authority, won the crown of Mr MACSA, while contestant 8, Chidiebere Udokwu, was crowned Miss MACSA.

Among the prizes awarded to the winners were a cash prize of N40,000, luxurious bed spreads and exquisite body sprays, adding to the excitement of the evening.

The event continued into the night with a lively after-party, where guests danced and celebrated until the early hours of the day, marking the UNIBEN MACSA Dinner ‘24 as a success filled with glitz, glamour and unforgettable memories.

The Director of Socials, MACSA UNIBEN, Comr. Ijale Isaac Marvellous, popularly known by his pen name Chase Tunner, in a cross section with MACSA Ekehuan Watch Reporters, disclosed his feelings over the smooth flow of the event till the end.

“Everyone had fun and was happy about the event. My expectations were met more than I expected,” he said.

He equally revealed the financial, security and other challenges encountered while planning for the event. He advised his successors to ensure they embrace transparency and be ready to meet the expectations of the students while in office.

Winner of Mr MACSA Pageant, Emmanuel Godwin Norman, appreciated his supporters and the association for crowning him Mr MACSA 2024. He pledged his readiness to encourage and inspire whoever comes to him for a piece of advice towards achieving whatever they aim at.

Also expressing her feelings on winning the highly coveted Miss MACSA ’24, Chidiebere Udokwu said, “I feel quite elated because it was not an easy race till the end. I know on countless occasions I was discouraged, but with the encouragement I got from those around me, I felt motivated and I did it till the end. I feel really good and grateful for the support from my fans. I want to say a very big thank you for helping me bring the crown home,” she said.

A 200 level student, Aifuwa Eshoe, said she was satisfied with how the event went.

“The dinner night was a splendid one, although they did not start on time. To me, everything went well,” she said.
